Honoring the home’s modern style, we updated this kitchen from head to toe from refinishing the existing white oak floors to illuminating its characteristic sloped wood ceilings.  By extending the kitchen island into the existing dinette, we created a casual gathering place at the end of the island in a soft Peruvian walnut finish.

The grooved and grouted Italian porcelain tile backsplash makes a statement with an artistic ombre effect. Cool gray tones balance the pale blonde stain of the refinished wood floors. Flat paneled cabinets and glossy white glass appliances transformed the kitchen into a more contemporary expression of the home’s architectural style.

A few energy-minded selections including LED lighting, Energy Star rated appliances and only one pull out trash receptacle but three recycling bins and an organic waste disposal suited the homeowner’s interest in a lighter-touch lifestyle.  A glass induction cooktop was selected for it’s even cooking and heat technology, low maintenance, and sleek modern appeal.
